I will be installing this on a boat with a 150 HP outboard. With the protector I bought can the outboard And accessory’s both go through it? Or is it just designed for accessories? To protect my battery from parasitic loads ( which could come from the outboard) I would like to have everything connected to it. I have a feeling that is just for accessories, thus it wont help if the parasitic load is on the outboard somewhere…
Another concern is will the alternator feed the battery through it?
Right in the initial description on the Smart BatteryProtect web page it states
“The Smart BatteryProtect is a uni-directional device. It can only deal with current in one direction, so either current to a load, or current from a charger, but not both currents at the same time.”
It could protect from parasitic loads on the outboard as long as it was load only and did not include alternator AND it did not include starter motor current as the inrush current may be too high. The same issue may occur with bow thrusters and winches.
