Just saw the announcement of new Victron Connect 6.40
The PC update and Apple iPhone versions installed easily, and it’s a pretty sweet upgrade.

Bluetooth enabled on Windows! - My PC found the devices. I’ll have to test it more later.

Some nice layout improvements, including portrait, light/dark modes, and it seemed to just connect faster.

A whole lot of small improvements make this a really good release.

There is also an update to VRM app on the iPhone/iPad (and probably more).

That’s true regarding the title.

But did someone tried to update the firmware of a “smart” device through bluetooth and using the VC on Windows?

I didn’t test it myself because I didn’t have much time lately but that feature was in beta testing for around 2 months so I’m sure someone tested it.

At some point I will update a Multi RS and/or a SmartSolar MPPT and I was curious if there is any problem through Win VC or it’s better to stick with the Android VC.

In other words, which is the consensus for the time being? It’s mature and safe through the VC on Windows?

I guess you will still have your phone in your pocket, so if something went wrong you can switch to your phone and continue from there.
(Normally a failed update can be restarted)

I guess personally I won’t switch to VC on PC completely.
I normally start the update for the MultiPlus on my laptop and in the meantime I use my phone to update/configure the other devices.

I never had a need for Bluetooth on Windows.
Maybe I will use it in the future from time to time but I guess I will stick to the phone mostly, just out of habit.

I like the PC option, because I can back up the files for an installation off-line readily; doing it on the phone is a bit of a pain.

Windows VictronConnect successfully upgraded a SmartSolar MPPT 100 30 today. First it did the Bluetooth module update to 2.53. Then weirdly it showed a greyed-out MPPT once that completed. It said something about another smartphone was already connected to the MPPT. So I quit and restarted VC. Then it was the normal blue, I reconnected, and updated the main firmware to 1.74. So it was successful.

This is what the greyed-out SmartSolar looked like in the list:

Just hit the Refresh orange circle, and it will come back as normal.

Easy!
