Venus OS v3.80~33 available for public testing

Really great to see this fix in after so long having Fuel [100], Fuel [101], etc! I tested and it’s working great with my four N2K senders. The capacity setting remains greyed out and unusable on N2k devices, and capacity (like name) is a nice thing to have settable for a tank. But great to have human readable names for the crew, thanks for getting this one!

Since 3.80-32 I get “High Discharge Current Alerts” on short load peaks…
Pylontech Battery. Peaks are around 50A.

Starting with version v3.80~33/v3.80~32 my SolarEdge SE4000 inverter, connected via modbus proxy, gets Active Power Limit set to 0, effectively disabling the inverter’s solar output. Switching back to the stable firmware fixes the issue. I have not seen this behaviour prior to v3.80~33 and came from version v3.80~27.

I have reverted that change. The idea was that a loss of communication will shut down SolarEdge inverters, like we do with inverters that support Sunspec-2018. In practice, it will require people to disable the limiting option in the PV-inverter menu whenever they are not using limiting, and I fear this will catch too many people unaware. So for the 3.80 release, this has been reverted.

I’ve tried out the new virtual indicators. They show up in the remote console but not in the VRM switch pane. I’m using betavrm. Is that supposed to work already?

I had v3.80~27 running, uptime was over 2 weeks

Today, i was looking at the local GUI, as every day

While looking, after a few seconds, it restarted

I saw a messeage, something like “installing firmware”

after that, i was back to v3.80~14

I also didn´t see any backup configurations in the firmware menu

what happened?

when reverting to #14 - i still have the new linux

The system is unusable now, reboots every few minutes

How could i bring it back to a stable state ?

With #27 it was running perfectly for over 2 weeks

Hi,
I use two Shelly 1PM Gen 4 and one EM Mini Gen 4 to measure my PV inverters. On v3.80~27, they are recognized most of the time and run satisfactorily. When I install ~33, they are no longer displayed. I thought they aren’t dimmable!?

Furthermore, even on ~27, I have the issue that the EM Mini’s values are not included in the solar calculation in my VRM dashboard, and therefore not in the forecast either. Please find screenshots attached.

HĂźtte PV is measured by 1PM Gen4, Hausdach is our Fronius main PV.

It would be great to get any hints or a fix in future. Thx a lot!

I make a new thread for it last week no response yet. Same issue with the shelly mini. I looking now to roll back to 25.

Hi,

For the EM Series, there was a bug, that the “wrong counter” was read, “Energy Forward” rather than “Energy Reversed”.

I think that was fixed, So if your EM was logically working until now, it is now “logically wrong orientation” still counting on the “Energy Forward” which is no longer read.

The Shelly App is supposed to report a negative Power for Solarproduction, then orientation is right and the correct counter should increase.

For the PM shellies, you may need to check the integration again, if their switch is turned on. There was also a bugfix of a index beeing off “1”, that could cause the integration to enable another discovered shelly, but your installed solar-metering-shellies.

Hi, haven’t seen anyone posting the bugs I found in 3.80 in general.

I’m now running 3.80~33

Some parts of the UI has a weird offset.

See some recktangles or some others stuff that is not looking great on the screen.

see my screenshots.

A pop-up what is half off screen.

The temperature bars are too tall and reach the quick links bar.

ESS outline is left instead of right for the other ones

@G-Energy0
Can you add some information about what device OS and browser etc that you are using. Sometimes the screen display size also matters fr scaling issues.

I’m using the VRM app on an Iphone 13 with IOS 26.5. [no matter if I use horizontal or vertical on this Iphone].

You’re right, the 2th screenshot with the RS system mode outline, is not wrong on my windows desktop VRM browser.

But apart from that, the rest is still there.

Thank you!

No, that is still under development. For now it is only the (remote) console.

Thanks i have change the wires and it seem to work.

Thanks for clarifying - I love this feature - was looking for this already - keep up the good work!

Hi there, just found something really strange.

the switching between the ESS modes of the multiRS don’t work:

Set on keep “keep batteries charged”

The inverters don’t switch really to this mode.

they just don’t charge, only DESS works.

After a REBOOT in this setting.

The system tried to charge as fast as it could, and came far above my maximum charge voltage.

I don’t have a screenshot from this, but came above 55.55VDC and was trying to get more and more voltage.

So this is something that is not working at the moment, and I am on 3.80~33 Large
