Hi Jan, I assume that your PV is AC-coupled, or in other words, you use a PV inverter such as a Fronius?
That would explain why energy is fed into the grid when the grid meter is lost. In Venus 3.66 (and for a long time before that), a missing grid meter means the system cannot operate, and it will then go into passthru where it stops all ESS activity, which includes the limiting of PV inverters.
@DutchSolarFreak also correctly recalls that we fixed the missing grid meter warning in Venus 3.66. It was broken in Venus 3.30. So it is quite possible that a condition that was always there is now more apparent as it is actually being reported on.
We also changed this behaviour in the latest Venus beta. A lost grid meter will now result in the Multi falling back to its own internal measurement, instead of going to passthru. You will still get a warning, but the system will continue to use PV for the output loads and for peak shaving output loads.
That means the only thing that remains to look into is if grid meters are more prone to getting lost than before. I will look into it.
After some investigation – I also replied by email – it seems that what is happening is that during firmware updates, or when you use the remote firmware update page, the hardware is briefly disconnected while we scan all the ports. This takes just enough time that the grid meter missing warning is activated. The issue was not noticed because this warning was broken between Venus versions 3.30 and 3.66.
So all we will do is slightly increase the timeout for the grid meter missing warning.
I am only in the US and looking at STAR-Power and Light plus switches - but response to questions from Safiery is painfully slow. Interested in your feedback on your set up and feedback on the install.
Obviously looking to tue this all to GX switch page as well as CANbus switch panels.
Hi, could you please point me to more information regarding the PV Inverter support mentioned in version v3.70~27, specifically the fix for issues related to Enphase limiting?
garmin empirbus integration partially works - meaning it display CAN tanks, but not the switches or dimmers or anything else apart from tanks.
Will roll back firmware awaiting progresses
/edit - this was on a Cerbo and reboot did not solved. Rolling back to 3.54 fixed it and I also tried to re upgrade to 3.70 to end up with the same issue.
