Venus OS v3.60~66 Venus BBB troubleshoot

Hello,

my 2 venus has not appreciated the last update !!

One of it is now missing the MPPT (75/15) in my device list, rolling back to ~60 or 3.55 is back …
I do not take the picture where the batterie status was “CHARGING”

3.60~66

with the 3.55

The other one is not giving a stable AP and get a correct wifi connection…

So the Android GX app or even the standard victron connect from a IOS device can get a stable enough connection.

With the 3.60~60 I was able to get stable connection and working system…

Hi @Xabi , the issue with the solar charger is a non working VE.Direct port on a GX, and we’re on top of that and will be fixed in next beta version.

With regards to WiFi: can you elaborate a bit? And is it ok if we login via VRM? Then I’ll need just the name of the system and please enable Settings → General → Remote Support

Hello Matthijs,

Than you for the feedback.

From my side :

The BBB having trouble with the Wifi is the one I already had some trouble in the past with !

it is placed in our header room, the Wifi (Wlan) field is available at 67%.
But I always have had some trouble to connect to. perhaps due to environment. It is placed nearby the electricity dispach box and I’m affraid this is the main reason.

In the other hand it use t work OK with for many months !!
This Venus GX AP is active and I’m connecting to it using the Android GX Display application on a Samsung TAB 9 with Android 7.7.1 from the begining of the Beta application public publiation and use to work good on my setup.

This morning, writing this e-mail, I’ve double check all.

In the facts there is also a double change I made in this system.
I’ve updated the Venus Firmware from 3.60~60 to ~66 and also use to update the Android GX Display from Beta 5 to Beta 6 then 9.

The tricky point was that, unless the Android of the tablet and Android GX Display application setting were both showing to be connected to the correct Wlan (The Venus AP)
From the hidden menu of the Android GX display application, it was still pointing to the normal network IP… So after selecting "search for device"menu, It show the IP of the Venus AP, I select it and all was back to normal.

So mainly, the trouble was due to an uncomplete Android GX Display connection method from my side.

I’m now able to connect the Venus AP, updated it to version 3.60~68 and it is still ok.

So this case can be closed…

Thank you for the support !

of many installations i have one single VENUS left (no Cerbo). After updating from 3.55 to 3.65 and 3.66 one VE-direct port didnt work anymore, in this installation the two ports were used for two MPPTs, where one of it wasnt recognized anymore.
Tried everything (i am experienced installer), only solution was back to 3.55, now at the old Venus, the second ve-direct port again works.

  • Tried change cable
  • tried reboot
  • tried AEG (aus - ein - geht), power off completly
  • tried update FW of MPPT, Venus, all …
  • tried change vom 3-66 to 3-65 → second boot
  • tried to get connected via Victron-connect (wasnt there)
  • thought to see a linux bug, for ve-direct port
  • tried to change back to (non - beta = 3.55) … WORKED
Just for Beta info dont know if it is any relevant or if it was any other bug.
