Upgraded to 3.55 and it literally took hours. Went to sleep, woke up and went to work without thinking about it.
The upgraded disabled the WiFi so no VRM connection. The upgrade also somehow stopped my Multuplus II from passing AC or charging the battery bank even though it had grid power. Came home to discover new lithium batteries completely drained. This needs to be pulled from the repo as there are clearly major issues.
I should add that upon reverting back to 3.54, everything works fine including the MP2 which immediately started charging the batteries. Won’t be upgrading any time soon until Victron debugs this release.
just a remark as another raspberry pi user:
The raspi version of the VenusOS is NOT officially supported.
BTW I am using 3.54. Thank you for the warning.
I know - I’ve been using it for years now. This is honestly my first experience with something going off the rails this badly so I can’t complain much. Just putting this out there for other RPi users as a word of caution and also any Victron devs that monitor this space.
I will say that every time that someone mentions Venus OS being free, and I certainly appreciate that, I can’t help but think that I wouldn’t have stayed all-in on the Victron ecosphere with my 3x MPPTs, BMV, multiple SmartShunts, SBP, and Multiplus if I didn’t have Venus OS to tie it all together. I didn’t start out with Venus OS but rather just the BMV and a single MPPT. Being able to implement VRM inexpensively (at the time) was pivotal in how the rest of the system developed years later. If I’d known where the system was ultimately headed, I would’ve gone the Cerbo route.
