Issues with Venus OS V3.60 on raspberry pi

Ran into an issue with theu pdate from 3.55 to 3.60 of Venus OS on raspberry pi! After the update there is no display, no GUI, Touch screen unresponsive, SSH settings reset to factory. Not a great firmware update. Had to role back to 3.55 to get everything back. Is like 3.60 does a facotry wipe of settings as part of the update. Don’t these firmware updates get tested?

Hi @pcmm

I have moved this to the modifications space, as it’s about a raspberry pi. Support for Raspberry pi is a community effort, so it doesn’t get the same level of support as the Victron GX products.

VenusOS public betas have a very active and dedicated space on the community here. There was a ~50 day public beta test process for the VenusOS 3.60 update with approximately 200 submissions - you can see it here.

Any updates to this, I experienced the same thing with my Cerbo Pi when I attempted to update to 3.60. Totally white screen on the Pi but the web interface still worked. Rolled back to 3.55 as well.

Try accessing it over your local lan or wifi, on https://venus.local/gui-v2/.

Next, and only when running v3.60, since this page doesn’t exist yet in v3.55: once in there, go to Settings → General → Modification checks.

Not working UI is 9 out of 10 times the result of running an outdated version of guimods.

I did have GUIMods installed but I’m pretty sure I uninstalled it once I went to 3.50.I’ll have to try messing with it now that we’re off the road and back at the bricks and sticks.

Thanks!

Latest guimods version should work just fine btw!

Hello,

Was this issue ever resolved? I’m currently running 3.54 on an RPi3b and haven’t been able to update firmware for several months now. The RPi isn’t able to connect to a WiFi network post-update. It appears something after the 3.54 update has broken the wifi for RPi3b units.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Using Victron Connect to reestablish a network connection but it doesn’t identify any networks
  • Connect directly to the gui-v2 interface but browser cannot load
  • Connect using ethernet cable to the router - I’m able to access gui-v2 locally but again no wifi connections are identified in the wifi menu. Also, the connection to VRM is buggy as it will not allow me to use Remote Console through VRM for some reason.
