VE Flash freezes before the COM port screen appears

Using VE Flash, I want to update my 2014 Multiplus Compact 24/1600-40 with the new processor 2616154 and new firmware, to give solar priority.

That could be file 2616209.vff. The VE Flash programme gets stuck on the “Prepare your system” screen. So the screen where I can select the COM port does not appear. When I load VE Configure, the Multiplus is detected. (MK3 cable to USB).

I am using a Windows 10 laptop with all updates installed. Should I try another laptop running Windows 11? Or could there be another cause? No other Victron products are connected via the VE bus.

Connect the MK3 only to your laptop, check in the laptop which comport it uses.

Now connect only to the inverter, choose the comport number, let it search again, it should make a connection now.

First download all parameters, then update with the firmware.

Reload your parameters after.

Jeroen, thanks. I’ll try that soon. But is it clear that I couldn’t even get to the screen where I can select the COM port?

It works well on my Windows 11 laptop. The updates to firmware versions v209 and v556 were successful!

I use windows 7 and also works just fine, but good to hear it’s solved.
