VE Config & MK3 : mandatory to setup a Multiplus 2 GX?

Hello

I am about to receive my recently ordered MP2 48/5000 GX unit.

I see many people are setting up things using VE config (for ESS for example), which implies the use of a MK3 USB adapter, unless I am mistaken.

Is the use VEConfig (thus MK3 adapter purchase) mandatory, or the same settings can be done another way (HTTP access to the embedded Cerbo of the MP2 GX for example) ?

To setup a VE.Bus system with more than one unit the MK3 is needed.

But it’s also good to have one to be able to do programming without internet connection.

So with my setup (multiplus 2 GX + MPPT smart solar 250/70 + Smartshunt), this is not a mandatory need (as ve.direct and Ve.can based system), correct ?
