V3.70~72 Unexpected Reboots

Im getting several random reboots, no alarms, no error messages, nothing. Just Poof, reboots several times a day. Can Victron get into the system and figure out why? I have to use the beta because it solved my VE.Can 2 port issues.

Do you use VRM and have a stable data connection here? What does your setting in GX Settings/VRM Portal/Restart if connection to VRM is lost say?

Good connection and I have it turned off to reboot on lost connection, That was my first thought.

Kinda confused, should I just have the reseller RMA my Cerbo. If I’m not on the beta that reboots several times a day I’m on the production version and my VE.Can 2 ports flap every couple of seconds.

Hi @MarioLanning thanks for the report, we’ll login today and see what we can find

Ps. your VRM says that the last reboot was 3 days and 9 hours ago

Yes, you would be correct. Notice the solar input has been below 10k and the power usage had decreased. In my testing it’s doing it when solar is 10k or above. The 10k inverters have been below 6k per leg, the reboots have been narrowed to 50% and above untilazatuon in my testing, though it could be a coincidence. When emailing with my reseller suggested I RMA the Cerbo as the flapping on stable version and the high usage reboots on the beta are beyond them.

Hi,

for me it would be very helpful it you could keep that Cerbo, don’t RMA it, and let us help narrow down why it reboots.

OK?

For what I’ve found thus far, there has been one reboot due to a CPU overload:

May 12 19:18:08 einstein daemon.err watchdog[416]: loadavg 9 8 7 is higher than the given threshold 0 10 6!

I see you’re running Node-RED, and otherwise have a quite normal system.

And I see various more reboots, mostly, or even all - but that is hard to see, due to firmware updates.

If you agree to keep the Cerbo running, can you report back if you see more reboots?

Yes, I can leave the unit. Also, thinking about it, after I installed the firmware I have plugged my lynx Shunt and my large MPPT RS 400/200 back into VE Can 2 where as the shunt wan unplugged and I had the MMPt plugged into a USB port till I could get the VE Can issue fixed. Wonder if there is a possibility there is still a bug with the VE Cap 2 fix?

I’m quite convinced that the Cerbo GX MK2 VE.Can port 2 issue is fixed.

Its been installed on dozens of systems that had issues when running v3.55 - and all of them work 100% stable now.

All stable?

Yes, I installed v3.60.75 and have heavy loads in it now for the first time since installing the latest update. Also installed updates on my battery’s. Monitoring it. Met your crew here at the Flagstaff overland exhibit. Nice guys, I was sad the had no hats. The one I used to have blew off my head in the middle of the Pacific and I was all excited to get a new one.. maybe next year.
