I’ve got a Cerbo GX. I use the Marine MFD app to display information on Furuno displays. I see several issues (some of which may be simple confusion on my part):
The MFD app has errors in my configuration. One notable example is that it gets confused because I have two Multiplus units connected. The app shows the status of unit 1 under the name of unit 2, and doesn’t show unit 2 at all.
The MFD app doesn’t show the output of my alternator controlled by a Wakespeed regulator.
To see this and other data I need I have to go the Device List in the Menu in remote console.
I used to be able to do this before 3.50. In 3.50 when I choose Remote Console from the MFD app on my Furuno I get a screen that says Remote Console but shows no data - just a white box. No QR code, nothing.
However, if I go to the MFD app from a computer (venus.local/app) and then choose Remote Console, I do see the old console. Crude as that seems compared to v2 I can then at least get to the info I need.
My preference would be to have the MFD app fixed to eliminate the need for the console on the MFD. Second choice would be access to the old Remote Console from the MFD app on my MFD. (That used to be possible and it is still possible on a PC so I’d hope…)
All that said, I really like v2 on my non-MFD devices.
Issue 1: the MFD App gets confused because I have two Multiplus units connected. The app shows the status of unit 1 under the name of unit 2, and doesn’t show unit 2 at all.
We’ll look into that, it should not get confused over that.
Issue 2: the MFD app doesn’t show the output of my alternator controlled by a Wakespeed regulator.
Can you see that Wakespeed alternator current properly elsewhere? Could you post a screenshot, and perhaps a photo of what you see on the MFD?
Issue 3: Accessing Remote Console on a MFD
The situation as per Venus OS v3.50 and onwards is that the New UI can (unfortunately) not be accessed directly from an MFD. Its related to the used technology, which has lots of advantages but also a few disadvantages and this is one.
Here is how it now works: when running the new UI, the MFD App will show the option to connect with a tablet or phone.
When running the Classic UI on the GX device, it shows Remote Console, exactly the same as it used to do up to this new release. The setting that controls this can be found in the Settings → Display & Language menu, scroll to the bottom where you’ll find the User interface setting, to select which UI should be used.
That this doesn’t work for you looks like there is possible a bug. Did this work properly for you in Venus OS v3.42? Could you revert to that temporarily to check?
I’ve tried to reproduce that issue, and haven’t been able to yet.
@danderer The Remote Console not working properly on Furuno is a bug in recent Venus builds and will be fixed in one of the next builds. Please stay tuned.
Could you also post couple more screenshots from the MFD app with respect to your Multi-Multi setup to pinpoint where exactly it is wrong? Will be fixed as well…
My configuration is two Multiplus units. One is configured as a charger/inverter; the 2nd is used as a charger only. They are named “Charger/Inverter” and “Charger Only” respectively.
Only one of the two Multiple units appear in the Devices list.
The list indicates the “Charger Only” unit is inverting when in fact the “Charger/Inverter” unit is the one inverting.
Finally, the behavior is the same when running on shore power - the v2 display is correct; the MFD display shows only one Multiplus (and I suspect is displaying the wrong name for it).
Sorry I was unclear about the Wakespeed. The Wakespeed (“ALTREG”) does show up on both the v2 and MFD displays. I forgot do not have a bus-connected way of measuring alternator output directly. (There is an old non-Victron shunt that lets me visually see what is going on.). So I don’t think there is a problem here.
However, I do have some suggestions. Note on the v2 console Overview page there is a lot of whitespace in the Alternator box. I would find it useful to see the current State displayed there at a minimum and maybe even the Field drive.
On the MFD display, since the output isn’t available it would be nice to have some info shown there - state would be my leading candidate.
