Is it possible to use the current sense input on the MP2 to act as a current sense and energy meter for a secondary circuit and NOT the “grid” circuit?
I have an ET112 configured for the grid monitoring which is working fine. I also would like to monitor the load on a secondary circuit and realised I could use the Victron current sense clamp plugged into the current sense 3.5mm jack input on the MP2, providing it can be configured that way!
As far as i know you cant, ct sensor replaces internal sensor of multi
So you will need a second ET112
Correct
OK, if using the current sense for an external circuit is not possible, I have the other option:
this second circuit I want to monitor already has an ET340 on it. That ET340 is used by the various devices on that circuit to monitor energy usage (it’s a heat pump).
I did look at tapping into that. The only thing is it’s not the standard 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit standard. It runs at 19200 with even parity, etc.
Can the Cerbo be configured to monitor energy usage over RS485/USB (like I have for the ET112) but using that non-standard baud rate?
I can monitor it on the computer using the Carlo Gavazzi UCS software. It’s just when I plug my RS485-USB into the Cerbo, it never “sees” it, presumably because it’s running at the non-standard data rate.
You can modify the settings of the et340 with the carlo gavazzi software, you cant in the cerbo
If you want to connect the et340 to 2 devices, then you would need an active rs 485 splitter, but you still would need to change settings…
