Unable to load Superpack back to 100%

Dear community,

I’ve installed 6x100ah superpack lifepo batterry.

They are loaded with: smart solar mppt, orion xs from alternators, multiplus compact

I’ve modified the parameters of these 3 load devices according to the superpack parameters (14.2v max, 13.5v float for ex)

The network contents a BMV702.

My pb is that day after day the load devices switch to Float before the superpack bank has come back to 100%.

It is today max at 96.4% and it is decreasing.

Do you have any advice?

What settings do you have on the BMV battery monitor.

Hi pwfarnell,

Thks a lot for your interest.

Enclosed the parameter of the BMV702, the Orion XS and the mppt smart solar (sorry in french). I had to reparameter the mutliplus compact with the mk3

On the BMV set the charged voltage (tension chargee) to 14.1V and the charged detection time (temps de detection de batterie chargee) to 3 minutes. These will make it easier for the BMV to synchronise to 100% before the charger goes to float. Your main problem is the 30 minutes need to continuously be at 14.2V to reset to 100%, this will never occur.

Hi pwfarnell,

Thankyou much for this insight. Understood the topic if the max tension tb kept 30min not achievable. I will test your proposal.

What is still a pb for me is that the BMV calculates a deficit of capacity based on the initial reference which was at 100%, and I guess the + and - cumulated from this point.

As an example, we are curently sailing under engine: tension is 13.51V, the Orion is active on a float mode, but the BMV is stating a deficit of 26Ah which is not marginal.

What’s your view?

The BMV is not perfect so it accumulates small errors which is why you need to make sure it synchronises. My 600Ah of Victron batteries have not been absorption charged for 14 days so have not synchronised as I am away ftom the boat and they show a deficit of 20Ah, 96.6% SOC. Once cruising with a daily absorption and synchronisation I am always error free. It does not concern me. If it concerns you then try increasing your charge efficiency factor from 99% to 100%. However, this may make the error go positive so the SOC is a bit higher, without regular synchronisation you could have less charge than you think, which could be a problem.
