Two Victron Quattros initially set up to generate 240, changed to 120, can't get into software to change settings

My system will be six years old the end of this month. I have a pair of Quattro 48/5000s that I initially set up to generate 240v. I live pretty far north with short days and lots of clouds. Nobody told me how high the system overhead is when they’re set up that way. So much for 240v, I changed over so I have 120v at the service panel. Since I did this five years ago I don’t really remember precisely all of what I did or why I did it. Note to others: Consider documenting what you’ve done and any changes you’ve made, preferably with photos, so you don’t find yourself in the spot I am right now.

I changed the feed to the service panel so each inverter powers one side of the panel, no problem, this setup has worked well for five years. So why am I asking for help? I use a DuroMax XP12000EH generator to get us through the sometimes lengthy periods of little to no solar we deal with this time of year. This year the generator and the inverter chargers have had problems synching up and I get the dread click of non connection. If I futz with things long enough finally they get together and the wonderful charging light comes on each inverter. I decided I’d go into the software and derate the amperage per leg from 25 amps to 20 amps and there’s where the problem showed it’s ugly face. For a reason I have no memory of I changed the RJ45 cabling from the slave connected to the master and then the master into the CCGX. For some reason I have the RJ45 cable from each inverter plugged into the CCGX.

When I unplug either cable from the CCGX to plug it into the interface so I can use the computer to change the generator setting I get a horrible racket and error messages show up on the CCGX. Obviously I’ve made some sort of configuration error but before I do something stupid trying to correct what I screwed up I thought I’d reach out to them what might know better than I do and ask for help.

Photos available upon request.

maybe you distorted the Master-Slave programming.
Please post some photos of the installation (bevor and after your change if possible).
Without proper training this can be risky to disconnect some data cables (eddy currents over shielding,…) and not disconnect the system properly

Hi @Bill_the_Elder,

It sounds to me from the description that you have run the RJ45 cables from each Quattro directly to the CCGX

But it is more common to run a single RJ45 from the GX to one of the inverters, and then from the second VE.Bus port of the inverter to the second inverter;

Thank you for your responses. I may have thought I changed from split phase to parallel but I didn’t. Communication cables were the issue keeping me from getting to VE Bus Quick Config. Got in and made the change from 25 to 20 amps per let coming in from my generator. Noticed new choices for lithium batteries. Is there somewhere to go read about what they all mean?
