I have spent a week reading posts on this wonderful forum and trying various potential fixes and I am still stuck and humbly ask for some help.
My system is in a sprinter van:
See diagram attached
Multiplus 12/3000/120
Three 105 Lion Energy UT1300 LiOnPh Batteries in Parallel (relatively new)
Smart Solar MPPT 100-30 (with 320W Yingli Panel)
BMV-712 Shunt and Display
Orion-TR Smart DC-DC Charger Isolated - connected to starter battery including fuse/disconnect
Cerbo GX
Up until 1 week ago everything was working perfectly. And now:
1. Batteries are dead or close to dead (based on LED indicator physically on the batteries)
2. Shore power - upon connecting is on Bulk for about 20 seconds, then goes to Absorption for 1 hour, then to float. Stuck in float. Upon start-up the BMV shows voltage around 14.2, then this drops down to around 13.5 (see console image attached)
3. I somehow lost all the settings in my BMV-712 and had to set it up again (performed the full charge and sync). Since doing that it is always showing 100%, if I manually change the %, it will go back to 100% in a few seconds. (See image attached for current settings)
4. Upon running the vehicle I get an audible alarm DC power too high alert.
5. ESS Battery Life State appears stuck perpetually in “Restarting” (however, I looked back several weeks and it seems it’s always been this way, and the system was running fine)
I have, in an effort to try to rectify this, so far:
1. Checked all my connections and all my fuses, everything is super tight, no issues.
2. Checked the Multiplus settings for the first time (I’ve had it for 1 year about) - upon doing this it was somehow in “Storage” mode. Based on the forum posts I changed it Lithium battery, and changed some of the defaults (see settings attached)
The following happened over the course of a few days and I am not sure what, if any of these, caused my problem:
1. I brought the vehicle to Mercedes for an oil change and general inspection (my dealership is good and seemed very familiar with these kinds of set-ups). I had an issue with the steering column (wipers came on with blinkers) and they replaced the entire “module”, which involved doing some system resets as well. See report from Mercedes attached looks like they checked the 12V system for me during the repair and it was good (did they mess something up?)
1a. Upon getting the van back from Mercedes I wanted to make sure the BMV was functioning normal, so I let the batteries run until the system shut off. What appeared to happen is that the system ran the batteries down to 60% (as per the BMV) at which point the voltage dropped to around 10.5 and the system shut down. (See images of “battery run down test”. Since then I have had this issue.
2. Disconnected the bluetooth dongle that was originally connected to the inverter, since I now have the CerboGX, and connected the inverter to the CerboGX with RJ45 (Cat6) cable
3. Reset all the BMV settings as mentioned above, tried connecting/disconnecting using different ports, etc.
I have yet to adjust the absorption time to maximum as recommended by some users and some posts regarding equalizing uneven battery cells perhaps? I can do that. But still, this should not be the situation if I just ran my batteries down to zero.
Can someone please tell me where to start?
