SOC in VRM isn't showing

Houston, my VRM isn’t showing the SOC. I’ve unplugged the CERBO and disconnected the black cable to the bmv 702 shunt.. No changes. Not sure what else to do.

From the screenshots it looks like all the information is there except SOC

What it looks lke is the shunt has to resynchronize before giving the SOC again. You can set it manually on the shunt

Thanx for the reply. It loses sync frequently.. (weekly) so I disconnected the black cable to the shunt… then if quit showing.

Did your reply just change..? I don’t see the 3? other questions.. and the light on the round gauge stays on now. I’ll check out that troubleshooting link.

I had a list of things to check then realised there were voltage and amps showing on the widget so it is communicating to the cerbo.

Well an easier method might be to disconnect the little red wire.
But really there should be no need to disconnect anything at all. If it is doing that then your battery must be shutting down for some reason so the shunt looses synchronisation.

There is a setting to make it keep its last soc on reset/disconnect is that enabled?

I have done the manual sync, but I shouldn’t have to. I have 3 BB 100Ah lithiums in series.

Agreed, but the shunt will do that every time it looses power

the little Red wire is for the temp sensor..? I suppose if the battery is shutting down.. There is history in the advanced tab I could check. On the last question.. Isn’t that in the battery settings..?

The temp sensor is red and black. If it is a single red wire with a fuse in it it is power.

Found it. It’s blank and greyed out..

I think the SOC needs to be known for that to be used

I think you need to dig through the FAQ section where common errors with shunts are discussed.

Your consumption is definitely higher than solar production for loads and charging so that may be one reason why SOC goes down not up.
The 5kw difference in production Vs consumption can be easily ‘eaten’ by system inefficiency and self consumption.

What is your system battery monitor set to in the system set up.

Make a graph with the Ai there for voltage and soc as well

Well.. Strangely enough.. This is the system this morning. I will do some more reading on this subject.

Your battery is set to starts synchronised (and it was off on your first screenshot). Switch that off.
The battery is shutting off, then the shunt is waking up and shooting to 100%.

There is no way at 11.58v that your are at 100 % SoC. It is wrong.

Fixed that. So it’s now a matter of time to see if it starts working right.. Yes.. it was wrong but it was recharging and fixing itself. IT maxxed out at 1100w on that bump in the PV window.

If by “3 BB 100Ah lithiums in series” you are referring to Battle Born batteries you might want to search for posts with search term “Battle Born” at DIY Solar Power Forum for further information to determine whether this might be an issue with the batteries themselves.
