SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 voltage high when Lynx BMS is off

I have a system composed of Victron Lithium Smart batteries connected to a Lynx BMS. The Lynx BMS is connected to a Cerbo GX. There is also a SmartSolar MPPT and MultiPlus 3000 in the mix.

The issue we have is that if the BMS is in Standby and we go to turn it on we get an Incorrect System Voltage error message and the BMS won’t turn on. What we’re noticing is that even though charging is turned off for the MPPT that it is putting a voltage of about 50 volts even though it’s a 12v system. Seems like the MPPT shouldn’t be putting any voltage out if the charge function is turned off even if there are no loads connected.

I know this is a work around, but if you are going to turn your BMS off, then I suggest you go into the MPPT settings in Victron Connect first and turn the charger off in the battery settings page or have a breaker / isolator installed between the panels and the MPPT or have a switch on the remote port of the MPPT to turn it off. This has recently been discussed for the NG version of the Lynx BMS and the VE Bus BMS.

I’ll see if I can find the discussion for the NG version. I agree that a way to isolate the MPPT should be added and is a quick fix, but it would be nice to be able to bring the bms out of standby remotely. I’ll try the turn the MPPT charger off first via Victron Connect to see if that would work.

I have ensured that it has got to the notice of Victron so I expect that it will be sorted at some point.

Even if remote, you should be able to use VictronConnect via VRM to turn the MPPT off. If the ATC port is free on the BMS you could always connect the MPPT remote terminal to that as another workaround.
