SmartSolar 250/100 disappears from VRM frequently — returns after checking “Firmware Update”

I’m experiencing a daily issue where my MPPT intermittently disappears from the VRM and returns after forcing a firware update check.
**
System:**

MPPT: Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/100-Tr VE.CAN

GX/Inverter: Victron MultiPlus-II GX 48/5000

Connection: VE.Direct from MPPT to Multiplus II GX

Solar array:

8 × LONGi Hi-MO X10 645 W connected in 4S2P configuration.

Problem:

Almost daily, the MPPT disappears from VRM for a few minutes to hours sometimes.

Symptoms:

• Gaps visible in VRM “Advanced” graphs for the MPPT

• Battery voltage remains stable around ~54 V when this happens

• No error shown on MPPT itself or Multiplus II GX

If I go to VRM → Device list → Firmware Update, the GX re-scans devices and the MPPT immediately reappears and data resumes.

On VRM go to the advanced view and set up a widget for the GX device, parameter “DBus round trip time”. This will need to be a custom widget and the GX device is often called “Gateway”. See the VRM manual for the Advanced Page. VRM Manual Advanced page This will give you a graph like below. It should normally be in the low mS with occasional peaks if something changes state or the workload increases. [image]
