MPPT Firmware update fails and now MPPT is non-responsive

We have two MPPT’s installed on this site.

Model: SmartSolar Charger MPPT 250/100 rev2

Corrected itself:

Yesterday I started doing firmware updates to the devices from the VRM portal (The VRM auto way- I just click update).

The first MPPT failed the update once, the second time I clicked to update it updated successfully from firmware 1.42 to 1.68

Keeps failing:

The second MPPT failed, I tried 3-4 times but it loads to 30% then gives error dup-3 and sometimes dup-26.

I then manually downloaded the firmware 1.68 from the Victron Professional Dropbox. Same errors. I then tried 1.64 but get the same errors.

The device is now showing offline on the GX device. But when you do a device scan under firmware updates on VRM it still shows up, but it only goes to 30% before giving the error.

I’ve tried searching the communities and tried the AI support. The AI support keeps saying the dup errors are if I use the wrong firmware model to the device model, but as seen attached it matched the device models (SCC 250-100 rev2 A065).

@guystewart apologies for the tag, but if you know what the issue could be and point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
Since the original post I’ve kept looking for a solution but not getting a solution that works.

I would try to do the firmware update directly via VictronConnect, not through VRM.

The VRM process is usually very reliable, but it still has more steps that could potentially go wrong than just using VictronConnect.

The client is about 3hrs drive from me. I’ve sent him the firmware files (1.68 and 1.64) but he says his Victron Connect doesn’t pick up the MPPT. I’ll schedule a site visit and try it myself. Thanks, will post my findings here.

Just an update FYI. When we did the update from VictronConnect the update was successful. Thanks.
