Hello all,
When using a closed loop with VE Can-bus with a BMS battery from Fortress Power, Pylontech, Discover or another lithium battery supplier, is it still recommended to install a Smartshunt?
What about a battery protect, still recommended?

I prefer a shunt, mistrust bms.
My “dumb” lifepo disconnect by themselves, so i think they don’t need battery protect.
Depends on your batteries, some have good SOC some are poor, in the latter case a SmartShunt is useful, research your brand. If your battery BMS disconnects on high/low cell voltage and temperature etc. a battery protect is not necessary. The only use is if you want to try and disconnect some dc loads earlier to save energy for more critical loads.
