I have 2 - 12 volt Lithium batteries that make up the power source for my 24 volt trolling motor in my boat. I would like to add a Victron SmartShunt to monitor the state of charge and possibly temperature of the batteries. Can anyone help with a wiring digram were the SmartShunt attaches? The two batteries are wired in series and there is a jumper cable going from the positive of the one to the negative of the other. Thanks for your help!
Have you read the manual, Section 3.5.2, it even has a diagram.
Thanks pwfarnall. I did see that diagram but wasn’t sure hat is meant by " Auxiliary connection midpoint battery bank monitoring".
smart shunt won’t allow you to measure temperature, that’s not it’s job.
What you need is batteries with accessible BMS data…
You have 2 12V batteries lithium batteries in series, the mid point measurement will tell you how balanced they are. You could have 27.0V total, this will tell you if they are both 13.5V or out of balance. Even if you are not interested in mid point it still shows you where you put the shunt.
Even if you use the temperature probe, it does not measure the cell temperature, which is what is important.
