Lynx NG BMS connected to a non NG battery. Will it work?

  1. Can a Lynx NG BMS be connected to a Victron Smart battery?
  2. Can a Lynx NG BMS be connected to a battery from another manufacturer?

Will it operate correctly? The Victron Lynx smart BMS NG manual does not specify use on other batteries.

Reason for question: I have a motorhome and want to change to the NG system because it is waterproof. I always have a back-up battery in case the primary battery fails. The back-up battery is not a Victron NG.

The communication method (digital in NG, analog in prior version) changed and is proprietary to Victron.

Hello

Can I connect a non vitron products ie: DCtoDC charger and a ACtoDC charger to the NG BMS.

The Victron BMS can control non-Victron sources and loads via the ATC and ATD signal lines if the non-Victron components have the ability to be remotely controlled.

Also worth noting that the NG system is not at all waterproof, so wouldn’t have been a solution for you anyway. The Lynx Smart BMS NG is only IP22.

Thanks justin. It is only the battery that needs to be waterproof. The rest of the system is in a waterproof compartment
