I have 3 phase Victron system (3X Multiplus II 3000) with 2 Huawei 3 phase inverters (12KTL + 5KTL) on AC input. Was thinking about moving 5KTL to AC output, but seems the better solution is to ditch 5KTL at all and replace it with SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/100. Result is better compatibility and less losses on DC side.
I understand the reason as to why we should DC couple. however, the investment is already done with the huawei inverters so the main reason is to work without investing in more hardware. I am already moving parts of the solar panels away from 1 of the solar inverters to a Victron 150/35 smart solar charger I had from a previous project. The idea is to couple both systems as best I can with most of my PV production already at the AC side.
To my understanding it is dangerous to have Huawei inverters on AC Output in microgrid mode because Victron has no possibility to throttle Huawei’s generation in case of full battery and excess PV. In this mode PV inverters should be Fronius (or other compatible with Victron, like ABB).
So for Huaweis the only option is to live on AC input. If grid fails, Huaweis will follow their internal algorithm and cease generating.
Of course, we are in very similar situations, with the exception of the 3ph system. I have been finding old posts about AC-coupling with Huawei. this one stands out specifically as they found the options to configure Frequency derating on the huawei app. However, these options are not available to me. So I´m still looking for the possibility of coupling.
Hello, my SUN2000-4KTL IS working with frequency shifting, using NEtherlands grid settings. I had to change standard frequency settings in the ESS assistant, because they are dedicated for example to Fronius. Additionally I programmed a fail safe in Node Red to trigger relais one on Cerbo GX which is connected to Rapid Shutdown of Huawei PV. When the battery reaches 97% and off grid situation the SUN2000 will shut down and restart if Victron is either on grid, battery below 97% or both. For Huawei I used 50.2V, 51.48V and 51.5V as settings in ESS assistant for our 48V Victron. Cut off power of over frequency derating in Huawei is set to “0”. All this info I got from Dutch forums and more people got is working.
Thank you for the reply, what I wish to know the most is the step by step within Fusion Solar app to access the overfrequency derating options. As far as I have found information, these options are only available when selecting certain grid codes and only during device commisioning. Can you confirm or provide a step by step as to how to navigate the application settings? Please let me know if it is possible.
Be aware that page is an example, so displayed values differ from my actual settings, als the 100% i set to 0%, My settings are 50.2, 51.48 and 51.5hz. Also I entered the inverter with SUN2000 app , not the fusion solar app. Never tried with fusion solar app for this. I do use fusion solar app for monitoring pv.
All of this is already explained in this community on Multiplus II and Huawei AC-Coupling
