Shunt visible in venus but not selectable as battery monitor

I have an off grid system with 2.5kW of panels, 250/60 smartsolar controller, 48v lead acid battery bank, smartshunt and multiplus 5000/70 inverter, all connected to a pi (ve.direct for shunt and controller with multiplus on ve.bus). The problem is that although the shunt shows up in venus, it doesn’t appear as an available battery monitor even though the shunt has battery monitor enabled in its own settings. I’ve enabled DVCC with sharing on and Has DC System setting is on. I’ve also tried smart networking between the shunt and the controller to no avail. The only available battery monitor is the multiplus (unless you disable that, which also didn’t work, nothing shiws in venus under battery monitor ). Need help, any ideas?
