Battery 100% indication never present in Venus or app

Hi all,
Small home setup. 100Ah AGM, 2 x 100W panels in serie, Smartsolar 75/15, Phoenix 12/500 and Venus on Pi.
Sofar I have never seen my battery indication as 100%. The MPPT nicely goes from Bulk via Absorb to Float and the battery is at 13.8
But in Venus or in Victronconnect I never see the 100% charge indication.
I always see “-”

(see photo)
Any hints?

Did you program the battery monitor on the inverter itself? (Am assuming you don’t have a shunt here)
That would be my first guess.

Correct, no shunt.
Picked one of the presets (Gel Victron deep discharge(1) ) and checked the settings in the battery specs, which are ok.
Absorp: 14.30
Float: 13.80
Battery is 1 week old. Before I installed it, I fully charged it with a certified charger.

BTW: this is the battery

You refer to the charger settings. In the Inverter (you do not state which model) there is a setting under general which says “enable battery monitor” and you put in your battery bank capacity. Screen shot from one of the programming methods.

Thx for that. I use the Victron Phoenix 12/500.
But I have no such setting. In the prefs I only see this:

Your GUI looks quite different. Which one is that?

Unluckily your inverter does not include a battery monitor function so with AGM batteries you will not have any SOC readings. You could install a SmartShunt and connect that to the Pi with another VE Direct to USB cable.

The screenshot is from the PC programming app VE Configure for the larger, fully featured inverters.

Thx. All clear now.
I’ll go for the SmartShunt option.
Another piece for the setup.

Victron SmartShunt I presume?

Yes, Victron SmartShunt.
