Shorted Relay?

I accidentally connected pos and neg to my Relay 2, and now, while it makes the clicking sound when turned on and off, the connections are not opened and closed. It’s always connected.

Relay 1 works fine for the same connection.

Did I somehow blow Relay 2? If so is there any way to fix it, short of buying a new GX?

Also is there a simple way to add more Relays?

I think they are welded closed now.

You could open it and try repair but short of being able to take the old on off and replace it -there is not much else you can do

There will be a new IO extender soon.

Or this option if you can’t wait.

There are some smart switches but you will need to know a bit of node red programming to use them.

Replacing the relay would be no problem for someone who can solder. However, you could try opening the cover and carefully tapping on the relay. The best way to do this is with a continuity tester connected to the COM and NO connections … which are now probably short-circuited.

What part in the box is the relay? I took the cover off but couldn’t tell.

I have to say it’s “SHOCKING” that Victron doesn’t have a simple plug-in relay expander like it has the GX Tank. Where is the GX Relat?

the print relays should be clearly recognisable … they can usually be found right next to the contacts … why don’t you take a photo and post it here …

I am not at my house but this is a snip I found of the inside.

Labelling and technical data on the side of the relays

That’s what I figured. That kind of soldering may be beyond my scope!

As a print relay, the connections are easily accessible from the other side. There should only be 5 contacts.
Just take courage and a good small soldering tip and desoldering tape. :+1:
