That really isn’t something anyone can do for you, it depends on your system and the grid reliability, which varies by individual.
A properly designed ESS in theory does not need scheduled charging as there should be sufficient PV and battery to store/use by day and consume by night.
We don’t have variable rates in SA so it makes little difference when you use the grid.
Thanks for the reply Nick, I was just trying to find a starting point on the ESS Schedules and then fine tune it from there.
There really isn’t a starting point. Ideally it is not needed at all.
You set the minimum soc for the battery and that should be sufficient to get through the day. The minimum is high enough to deal with a power loss at night and then fully charges from PV by day.
If you cannot fully charge then raise the minimum until you can or leave it on batterylife mode where the system adjusts the minimum for you.
In SA there is no real need for scheduled charging as there is no price benefit to doing so.
You can use it to restrict when the system discharges but the minimum soc achieves the same.
I would suggest you have a look at the free ESS video training on the professional.victronenergy.com site and get fully familiar with ESS.
Thanks for the info Nick, much appreciated!
