Would really be great to integrate the values from this sensor into the VRM. This would be a really useful feature to have.
Interesting idea, are you referring to this (RuuviTag)
It says…
Motion: Movement counter. Counter is incremented when acceleration exceeds the threshold on any axis.
While I’m not sure if there’s a display element to consider here, I think an alarm triggered by movement could be a helpful security feature.
This could alert users to potential theft or indicate an issue or problem with the device it’s attached to or in.
You can read acceleration in the X axis in Node Red using a custom input node. Mine is mounted on an almost vertical surface and is reading 0.968g. Not sure how the info could be used.
Did not activate Node Red, yet as I am in generally only using the VRM. But if the acceleration values could be put into a widget in the advanced view in VRM, this would be great
Hi,
I currently use the Ruuvi App for this purpose, and I think it would be beneficial for both myself and other users if this functionality was added to VRM. Along with other sensors, to monitor various situations, such as:
- Outbuildings, particularly during windy conditions, to detect potential damage through unexpected movement.
- Cages and incubators for my animals, ensuring I’m alerted if they are moved or disturbed.
- Farm machinery and equipment, to notify me of any unauthorized movement.
- Excessive vibration or movement from other equipment on my property or in the barn.
- Solar panel movement, since I construct all my own mounting systems.
- Wind turbine movement or vibration.
These are just a few examples, but I think you get the general idea of what I’m trying to achieve.
Just an alarm would do for me.
Thanks,
Dave
