Hello, I have installed few Victron EVCS chargers. I love them. The problem is that local grid code requires DC RCD (Type B) whenever charger doesn’t have one built in.
Victron EVCS specifically states in manual that it needs to be installed together with RCD. Having to install RCD B makes Victron really expensive comparing to competitors.
However, I noticed that within MODBUS registers there are ground-fault errors enumerated. Are these just “software reserved” enums or is the hardware actually equiped with RCD and there is other (legislation maybe) reason manual require installer to put there dedicated RCD? Does anyone know answer to this?
Strangely, the Vicron EV charger does not seem to include the mandatory RCD protection for AC or DC currents.
They “recommend” installing an expensive Type B RCD!?
They do not know about the Easee scandal?

From what I saw, on the actual products there is no RCD inside.
Only a CT transformer through which all the wires (live(s) and neutral) are passed, so only for detecting any imbalances.
Hence a possible ground-fault detection that will be marked on those registers.
