Remote VEConfigure fails

I cannot download ve.configure files from VRM.
This problem present itself after installing a Cerbo GX device instead of the built-in GX in the Multiplus II (because I need the CAN-BMS port). I installed the new Cerbo and migrated settings to it using the assistant in VRM interface.

Configuration:
Cerbo GX firmware 3.42 connected to:
Multiplus-II 48/5000 GX via VE.BUS.

Everything seems to work, except the ve.configure download.

A bit more images since I could only upload two:

Did you disconnect the internal GX?
Is two-way comms enabled on the new GX VRM settings?

Hi Nick,

I have not disconnected the internal GX, I would like to not open up the unit if I can avoid it. And yes, two-way communication is enabled.

I noticed that the Cerbo GX is a MK1 device, as per this: 4. Connecting Victron products

Could there be compatibility issues with a MK1 Cerbo and a newer MPII?

You can’t have two GX’s connected to an inverter, the internal one needs to be disconnected or powered off.

All right, thanks! I will disconnect the internal GX and see if it works.

Maybe you didnt know, but the multiplus 2 GX VE CAN port can be configured as BMS CAN port

That may not apply to much older models. There was some CAN restriction on older units, can’t exactly recall which.

I think you mean the old multiplus? as far as i know all multiplus 2 GX have that option, its not that old

Nope, early 2020’s there was a hardware change where the internal GX went from a limited CAN port (fixed baud) to a more conventional, variable profile port.

Ah oke, Then youre right
Thanx for the info

One of mine is an early model (2020 wk15) that has can bms, so i thought you were talking about the older multiplus

Thanks Marc, I know this but then I cannot use the ports for VE.CAN any more, which I kind of need

And indeed it works now, after disconnecting internal GX.

Thanks!
