Hi, I am new to this forum. We have a small off grid solar system we purchased from AtlE Energy Store. The system has components from several manufactures. In the package, AtlE supplied us with a Victron BMV-712 Smart for battery monitoring. This is the only piece of equipment in the system by Victron. There are several building on our 160 acre property. There are no people with any technical skill or knowledge living in the building with this system. The building does have StarLink internet access but it is only for that building and it out of range from the building I live in. Where I live I have Hughes Net sattelite internet, but it is out of range for the BVM-712.
It would be really useful if I could access the BMV-712 online from the building I live in. I have done some research and what I have found is the Victron Color Control GX. Seems like this would allow the BMV-712 to connect with the Victron VRM portal via StarLink. Then I could access the VRM portal via Hughes Net and get live data from the BMV-712. The Color Contol GX is pretty expensive and we would only using a small fraction of its functions and capabilities.
Is there any other way to access the BVM-712 live data from a remote location? If not would the Color Control GX do what I described above if the only Victron equipment we have is the BMV-712 and the Color Control GX?
Thank You Ken
You could use the raspberry Pi instead of the ccgx. Costs next to nothing… If you only want it for remote monitoring you wouldn’t even need a display.
Or, in between these, you could think about the cerbo-s, cost efficient ready to work.
