Question about changing Modbus unit ID and VRM instance?

Hi all
Not sure if this is related to exactly this version, I just updated…

in previous versions I was able to change the VRM Instance of devices either via dbus-spy or the guy v2 under settings==>devices==>device name==> VRM Instance

I tried today, but it seems to be read only now.

This was very helpful for node red, if after a reboot device IDs changed…

Hi @wolferl ,

Can you try and install v3.63, latest official version? I expect to solve this.

Hi Matthijs
Thank you for reply. I’m not at home at the moment.

Anyway, I solved it for now by editing my node red flows but would be glad in the future, if this would be reimplemented / solved for future versions…
Or, if this is not planned it would be nice to let me know.
Thank you

Hi again,

I think its solved, but if not let me know and we’ll look into it.

Good weekend, Matthijs

Hi, I’m on 3.70~19 now and it doesn’t work to change the ID… So, unfortunately not solved.

Tried in GUIv2 and bus-spy.

Hi, thanks. Can you post a screenshot of the menu where you tried to change that?

And which path/service in dbus-spy?

And a GX screen, ie Victron hardware?

Or in a webbrowser?

Hi
Here are the two images. I’m on a Pi4 and as stated, this worked before.
in dbus-spy I’m able to enter a new value after selecting “DeviceInstance” with Enter, but the new value is not saved.

in venusOS guiv2 I cannot even enter the field “VRM Iinstance”

Hi Matthijs

just a heads up: I tried this again on 3.64 and 3.70~24, for me it still doesn’t work.
