Quattro doesn't get recognized anymore by Cerbo GX after firmware update

Hey there,

I bought a boat last year that had a Quattro with the multi control, a 75/100 MPPT solar charger, a BMV display and a shunt. Then I got a Cerbo GX and a Smartshunt, getting rid of the old shunt and the BMV. Everything showed up properly on the Cerbo, except for the Quattro. It actually did show up, displaying the mains and AC loads, but many other details in the configuration were missing, and the Cerbo stating that I should update the firmware of the Quattro to at least V200 (it had 159 installed).
I got myself a MK3 cable and figured out which fw to use for my Quattro (it’s 1940, yes obviously an older model).

So I connected the Quattro through the MK3 cable to my laptop, downloaded the config and flash tools. The Quattro got recognized just fine and I did a backup of the current settings, Then running the flash tool with the proper and latest firmware file (1940209). The update procedure didn’t finish, because I made a stupid mistake: although it clearly said to remove any multi control devices, I wasn’t really aware that it was called that way, to me it has always just been the remote…
Well, the Quattro basically started blinking like crazy and wouldn’t start up anymore, despite several attempts of power-on-off cycles, config tool, flash tool, and a lot of swearing. That’s when I went through the procedure again and recognizing my mistake. After disconnecting the multi control, I attempted to flash again with the old firmware, which - to my surprise - succeeded: no errors and the Quattro came back on. But now it didn’t show up anymore on my Cerbo. It would still get recognized by the config tool and the flash tool, but not the Cerbo.
I then did the update to 1940209 again, which worked perfectly. I could upload the old settings, change settings, etc. but it still wouldn’t show up on the Cerbo or VRM. Disconnecting the multi control and changing ports also doesn’t help at all.

What’s the fix for this? Is there any?

Roll back the GX firmware or install an older version like 3.40.

@aaremmeff Try resetting and redetectecting the ve.bus. Have you been prompted on the Cerbo to update the MK3 driver?

Well, before flashing the Quattro, the Cerbo GX did recognize it, even with the latest firmware. I’ve tried to roll back to the previous version and also went back to 3.40 as you expected. None of them do recognize the Quattro anymore at all.

Any other suggestions?

I tried that, resetting and restarting… but it just keeps saying “resetting” and “restarting” without anything actually happening.

Here are some screenshots how it looks like on the Cerbo. And while taking these, I noticed the VE.Bus error… but the Cerbo never wanted me to update the MK3 driver.

I was also thinking on these lines.

If you plug your mk3 to usb adapter into the cerbo ve bus port does it recognise it as an inverter?

Also make sure the mk3 wasn’t left connected to the vebus

Didn’t think about that… but yes!! When connected via MK3 to USB it shows up in the device list, but not on the pages… and the “old” entry is still there as well.

While this could certainly be a temporary workaround (if I could get it to show on the pages), I’m still wondering why it doesn’t get recognized vi VE.Bus?

Other than thinking something is wrong with the ve bus port of the cerbo , something i haven’t come across yet. i cant imagine what the issue is other than maybe the patch cable being used between the ve bus port and the quattro.
Its not firmware and the quattro comms are ok, so we have ruled out that as being the issue.

We can also rule out the patch cable, it’s always been the same, whether connecting to either one of the Cerbo ports or the MK3 device…

Still wondering why the Quattro doesn’t show up in the GUI overview
