In our motorhome we have a Quattro 12/5000 installed, but the firmware has not been updated for a long time — the device is still running firmware v413.
Connected to the Quattro is a Victron Multi Control 200/200A, which is used to control the inverter from the driver’s cabin.
The inverter itself is extremely difficult to access, so I was thinking the following: the Multi Control is connected to the inverter via an Ethernet cable, so in theory I could unplug the Ethernet cable at the Multi Control (which is much easier to reach) and connect to that cable in order to perform the firmware update.
Or does the Multi Control need to remain connected for the firmware update?
I would appreciate it if someone could comment on my idea. I will of course back up all settings beforehand so that I can restore everything exactly as it was afterwards.
One last question: v413 seems almost historic to me, so this would be quite a big firmware jump. Can this be done without concern, or are Victron products somewhat “finicky” when it comes to firmware updates?
Many thanks,
Kind regards,
Florian
