Charging problem with isolated Orion Smart DCDC 12V 18A

Hello, I recently bought an Orion Smart TR 12V 18A to recharge a 100 Ah Creabest LiFePO4 battery. The problem is that I can’t charge the battery with the Orion: the charger supplies a voltage, but no current flows. I should mention that the battery charges correctly with a 220 V Blue Smart IP67 charger. I’ve already carried out several checks: upstream and downstream battery fuses, wire continuity, different Orion settings, and connecting it directly outside my circuit. But so far, I haven’t found a solution. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you tried:

  1. Measure the output voltage from the orion when not connected to the battery?
  2. Power a 12v load from the orion - e.g. light bulb or led light?
  1. I haven’t tried doing that, so I’m going to do it.
  2. I haven’t tried it either. Do I need to switch the charger to “power supply” mode to run this test?

not really.

For now, I have measured the output voltage of the charger with the battery disconnected and the engine running; this voltage is close to 0 V.

The input voltage is 14.7 V.

I don’t have a lamp or any other device to connect directly.

Looks like the orion may be faulty.
Remove and bench test - if you have the facilities - there is a Victron PRE-RMA test list:

which should be followed.

Thanks for the advice. I have some equipment, so I’ll try running these tests.

Hello, I carried out all the tests, and it did indeed seem that the Orion Smart was defective. I managed to return the product and bought a new one, which works perfectly.
