I’ve scanned through the manual in regard to the Power Supply function and it isn’t clear but I think it implies the function allows power to flow the same way it flows during charging. My application is a diesel truck with two lead acid batteries with a cabover truck camper that has two 230A LiFEPO4 batteries. I have been using a Renogy DC to DC charger but they don’t seem to last very long. I started looking at the Orion XS and wondered if the Power Supply function could allow power to flow in the reverse direction to charge the truck batteries if they get low in the winter. I currently use a solenoid to bypass the charger and charge the truck batteries if I need a jump. It’s kind of crazy to have all that power in the back and not be able to use it up front on the rare occasions that you need it.
Unfortunately, this is not possible with the Orion. Sterling does make a bidirectional DC-DC charger that does what you want though.
Thanks for the info. I assumed that’s what they meant. The Sterling does offer it but appears to not be as nice as the Victron. I’ll continue with the solenoid.
Again, thanks.
It’s not possible yet.
The HW of the Orion XS is able to charge in both directions and Victron is working on it.
It’s planned that a FW update can enable that feature.
