My phoenix inverter 24/5000 is working fine - inverting, communicating via VE.direct with the rest of the system but the leds on the front panel are not working. None lits and mode button does nothing. I can change modes eco/normal/off via VRM but the front button is dead.
I took the front cover off, cables going from a small led pcb to the main board seem connected and locked with some goo. Am I missing something? Smaller 24/500 even when hooked up via VE.Direct still shows led status. Firmware update did nothing to led problem. Is there some dim/dark mode feature?
I was thinking about it but, the problem is… this is not such a big problem worth the effort and justifying tearing the system apart, sending the unit back (shipping time+cost) then reinstalling etc. Putting 30kg up to a mounting bracket was a pain I still remember.
Perhaps I was counting on more trivial (non existent) solution.
So to close this off, indeed it was the ribbon cable fault. Tested both ends with a multimeter and first two pins did not connect. I removed white goo on the daughter card and clamped again the cable to red header like old IDE computer cables. It now works.
But it also means QC did not capture this since the connector was secured with white goo with the ribbon cable not fully seated… it wouldn’t loosen itself in transport so it was not tested after full assembly. Given price of the unit, meh.
