Parallel Multiplus-II 48/15000/200 230V for Single Phase with ETS?

For context, we are talking about an AC single-phase grid input going to a single-phase AC microgrid and DC bus with storage.

Is it possible to parallel two 15kva Multiplus-IIs together to create a single phase using an external transfer switch, or for that matter without using one? I’ve seen it mentioned repeatedly that you can ‘only’ do it for 3-phase, but can someone explain the reasoning behind this, or advise if anyone has attempted this previously?

I’m aware other options for this set up are available, just interested in this specific scenario.

Thanks!

Not sure, as the data sheet paragraph title says parallel or three phase operation, but the content only refers to three phase operation. I’ve seen noted elsewhere that one cannot parallel the largest of the inverters (10, 15 kVA), but that is old data… I would also like to see a definitive answer to this…
There are some limits to open paralleling, these can be exceeded with advice/permission/dongle? from Vixtron..

Yes you can, there are specific requirements and it is documented in the relevant manual:

Thanks for this, but unless I’m missing something that only provides guidance for producing 3-phase systems? Ive read so many bits of documentation that I could definitley be misreading it though so please correct me if im wrong.

  • Reduce equipment costs: Combining MultiPlus-II 8, 10, or 15kVA units with an external transfer switch lifts their “no parallel” restriction. Otherwise, the more expensive Quattro 8, 10, or 15kVA units would have been required.

It obviously supports 3-phase can see no technical reason why it can’t be single.

4.1. Upgrade to S99 VE.Bus firmware

The MultiPlus-II units require application-specific VE.Bus firmware, identified by the “.S99” subversion number.

The lifting of the no parallel restriction DOES apply to single phase as well as to a three phase system with paralleled inverters per phase. Tnhat’s how I read that paragraph. I thought that the required firmware change was worth pointing opt too.
