Orion XS - VE.Direct - Cerbo GX

Hello Victroners,

I am pretty new here, started to upgrade my Van with Victron.

Last week I build in the Cerbo GX MK2. I have SmartSolar 75/15, SmartShunt 500 and Orion XS connected through VE.Direct. All devices are on official latest firmwares + meshed in VE.Smart network. Everything works, except:

The Orion XS after interruptions has completely disappeared from Cerbo. I can’t see it anymore in Cerbo menu or VRM. I tested different cables on Orion, nothing helps. I switched the same cables to other devices and they’re good.

Even upgraded the Cerbo to 3.70 beta. Nothing helps.

What can be the reason and what is the solution?

Can you still see the Orion in VictronConnect via Bluetooth?

Yes, I can. And it operates normally

Did you try to disconnect the device completely for a few minutes and reconnect it?

If that also doesn’t help I guess the Orion has a problem with it’s VE.direct port and you should contact the seller/installer from whom you bought the device.

Yes, i disconnected it from both battery sources for 1 minute. I will try to disconnect it for longer time.

Normally 1 min should be enough.

If the devices are close together, try swapping VE.direct cables between MPPT and Orion to figure out if the cable is the issue.

If you have a Cerbo then its advised to use its DVCC function and not VE.smart, but VE.direct should work first

Deleted the ve.smart network. Did not helped. Cables are OK.

Is there a way to downgrade the Firmware for Orion? In manual mode it checks the latest version too and don’t let me install the old fw

Yeah that was just a sidenote from me, VE.direct should work wether or not theres a VE.smart network.

I guess you also tried different VE.direct ports on the Cerbo?

Yes, tested the different cables and ports. Only Orion XS does not react.

deleted the VE.Smart Network, did the factory reset of Orion XS, and even unplugged it for few minutes. Nothing changed. Now I am going to factory reset the Cerbo. If this not change anything, It is Orion XS which needs to be replaced I guess…
