I have 2 Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC 24v 17A Chargers (Isolated) and want to connect them to my Cerbo GX. I can put a smart shunt in the circuit but since the Orions have Bluetooth it would be great if the GX with a bluetooth dongle could connect to the Orions. Any ideas?
I guess everybody would love that instead of pulling meters of ve.direct cables.
But Victron doesn’t deliver.
Neither here nor for Windows-pc.
Unfortunately that’s not possible.
The Orion XS line can connect to the Cerbo via VE.Direct (NOT bluetooth) but currently that model is only available in 12-12, so you’d have to wait until the 24v model is released.
@Ludo please keep comments on-topic and accurate.
VE.Direct cables are not an option here since the Orion-Tr Smart line doesn’t have VE.Direct comms.
The incompatibility of Windows with VictronConnect over BT has nothing particularly to do with Victron; you’re welcome to complain to Bill Gates and his needlessly locked-down QT framework if you’d like!
And why can’t a victron cerbo connect to a smartshunt over bt ?
Or is this also Bill Gates work?
Because no Victron product can connect to the Cerbo over bluetooth. Bluetooth on the Cerbo was only ever intended to help set up the network connection. This is well-documented, always has been, and likely always will be.
Who builds in a bt module if the programming can be done with a monitor, keyboard and mouse ?
LOL… Do you want to consider, for a moment, how utterly silly that sounds?
Thousands of installers across the world, I sincerely doubt they’re all carrying monitors, keyboards, and mice around with them.
What every single one of them does have, though, is a phone.
