Hey guys. I have an Orion XS DC-DC Battery Charger installed in my Toyota Hiace campervan.
It does not start bulk rechargin even though the batteries are under 90% (at the moment 71% SOC).
Could you please help me identify the reason? My app is preset for Victron defaults for LiFePo4.
The negative battery connector is connected through a thick factory cable to the vehicle’s chassis. The same chassis bolt is used to connect the DC-DC charger by a black, one-meter-long, 16 mm-thick cable. The IN connector of the DC-DC changer is connected directly to the car battery via a red, one-meter-long, 16 mm-thick cable. The OUT is a three-meter-long, 16 mm-thick red cable connected to the positive pole of one of the Remco 100Ah house LiFePo4 batteries. The negative pole is connected to the negative pole of the other Remco battery. The two batteries are connected in parallel.
I have one 100W solar panel with an MC2420N10 MPPT, two 100Ah Remco LiFePo4 batteries, a Victron Orion XS HQ2524NPURR DC-DC charger, no inverter, and a Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger.
Here is the schema:
VEHICLE / ENGINE SIDE
Alternator → Starter batt (+) -------------------> Orion IN+ (16mm² red, ~1 m)
Starter batt (-) → factory cable → CHASSIS
CHASSIS bolt
|
+---- Orion NEGATIVE (common return)
|
House batt bank (-) -------------±— (extra cable from house battery NEG to Orion NEG)
HOUSE SIDE (2x 100Ah in parallel)
Orion OUT+ (16mm² red, ~3 m) ---------------> House Batt #1 (+)
House Batt #1 (-) --------------------------> House Batt #2 (-) (negative link)
House Batt #1 (+) --------------------------> House Batt #2 (+) (positive link)
(and one of the battery negatives goes to Orion NEGATIVE via your extra cable)
