Orion XS fitting in a VW T6 camper with factory fitted auxiliary battery

Hi all
This might sound like a daft question.
I have done several installs in campers now, but I have a question about my current new build.
Its a T6 with factory fitted auxiliary battery under the passenger seat, the battery is going dud and I wondered if I could remove the battery and house the XS in the space and connect to the cables running to the battery directly to the XS ? or whether I have to have a battery of some description to not cause any damage.
I could run a new set of leads up to the starter battery, but was wondering if it’s possible to use what’s already there.
The XS will be charging a 560ah fogstar.
Thank you.

That depends on how the old auxiliary battery was connected & charged. If there is any battery isolating device, you may need to remove that, so the orion is wired to the alternator or main battery through a fuse & possibly also an isolator switch. No reason not to use the existing wiring though.

Thanks for your reply.
After further investigation, I need to bypass the relay and put in an isolator, there is already a fuse, but I will need to change it for a 60 amp as it’s currently 80 amp.
Will also need to put in a small busbar as VW in their wisdom decided to run trailer sensing from the auxiliary battery.
