Orion XS dcdc charger

Problem solved. Well, really no problem. I just had to follow the manual installation instructions and what do you know…success!

OVERV VIEW: I installed the XS in a battery box with a Lithium AUX battery. I am using Anderson plugs to connect the trucks starter battery to the XS charger. I have the IN lug of the XS to the pos side of the one Anderson and neg side of that Anderson going to a neg bus bar. I have the XS ground lug connected to the above mentioned neg bus bar, and the out lug connected to a 60a fuse and then to a pos bus bar. From the neg and pos bus bars I connect to the battery (again fused at the battery) The XS is not connected to the trucks battery yet. The connected AUX battery in the box is providing power back to the XS and I am able to connect to the XS Via my phone with no issues. A slow blue flashing light is visiable.

POSSIBLE ISSUE? : When I take a reading from the ground lug to the out lug on the XS I am reading 13.3V as i would think expected. If i take a reading from the IN lug(black lead on meter) and the out lug (red lead) on meter) I am getting 13.3V. Again no power from the truck still just the Aux battery in the box the XS is connected to. It seems to me that without power from the truck the IN lug of the XS acts like a ground enabling me to get a voltage reading across both??? IF I connect power from the truck battery to the IN lug, will it act as a normal POS leg again??? These are just assumptions on my part, no evidence to back them up. I dont want to hook up a load from the truck and blow up the XS. Any wisdom would be great!!

Thanks, I am sure that was as clear as mud!!!

Well, it clearly states in the manual to connect the infeed first…

So i guess you’d better take of the aux battery, connect the starter and go on from there.

I hope you haven’t bricked it :folded_hands:

Thanks for the reply. I went back and read the manual, and followed the instructions. I hooked it up to the Truck starter batter and everything is working as it should!
