First time poster here, sorry if this question has been asked before. I have a Mercedes sprinter campervan, 2015 2.2 diesel with a “smart” alternator. I installed an Orion tr smart isolated dcdc charger but I can’t get it to work properly. It charges for a few seconds then stops. I get two different error messages, randomly. Either “engine shutdown detected” or “…remote…” something (sorry, I can’t remember the full message). I have tried various solutions suggested on other forums on the internet but nothing seems to work.

How have you wired the remote signal inputs ( the inputs on the green connector) ?
Well, funny you should ask that! I’ve just been re-reading the Victron installation booklet and have seen the part about wiring the remote connection in different ways. I must have misunderstood that part when I installed the charger. I am away at the moment and solar is keeping up with usage. I will have another look at the wiring when I am home next week and have more tools. I may ask another question or I’ll post a positive outcome, but if you have any further comments or suggestions they will be gratefully received.
So, I couldn’t wait. I managed to get some wire from a local hardware store and wired from D+ to L on the remote link and voilà! Works like a dream. Worst part is, it’s all in the manual!

Yeah, so do I, but the mtbf is at 24h for the rv, 1 week for the mini.

Seems like my celebration was a little premature. The Orion has gone back to switching on and off every few seconds. I don’t understand. It worked fine for several minutes, until it didn’t.
Turn off the start/stop conditions in the software, rely solely on the hardware.

But a search result said to remove the bridge and connect the D+ to h. I tried this and no difference. I still get the same error message on the app:
I have disable engine shutdown and low voltage lockout. Don’t know what else to try.
Sorry for a dumb question, but is the green block inserted completely ? I’ve had them stand out a couple of mm, nothing worked.
No such thing as a dumb question. It is in all the way. I’ve tried all the combinations with and without the link, D+ into L and H. Just keeps cycling on and off. It’s so frustrating.

It’s possible your input voltage is dropping too much under load, what is the gauge and length of the wire, and the charge rate?
Hmmmm. Been reading that elsewhere. I also have resettable breakers that people seem to say can cause problems. Maybe a rewire is in order when I get back to my stationary home.
