I have purchased the Orion Tr Smart 24/24 17 to charge my domestic Winston battery bank. My truck has a main power switch which I always use to switch off power of my truck batteries.
I would like to connect the minus cable of the Orion after the main switch, so that I have minimum risk that the Orion somehow drains the truck battery, especially when I am staying a few days.
However, would this have a negative impact on the Orion, being disconnected every day and do I lose the settings of the Orion?
Many thanks for the swift reply, so nothing speaks against of connection the minus cable after the main switch? no negative impact on the Orion itself.
Thanks, I could connect the Orion directly to the truck batteries (with fuses of course) and put a main switch in the positive at the input side of the Orion. Many thanks again for your input.
I can’t speak for switching on the negative side, but I do have the Orion in my service truck switched on the positive side for the exact same reason. It’s been 2 years now and hundreds of cycles and it works just fine this way.
