The fan on our Orion DC-DC Converters Non-isolated 24/12-70A seems to be running all the time, even when the remote off switch (presently just a simple toggle switch wired to the green remote connector for manual operation on the rare occasion that the 12v starter battery needs a boost).
I’m sure it used to only run when the unit was active, am I imagining this and does the fan normally run all the time on these or has something failed inside?
This unit has suffered from being a backup system which therefore gets a little ignored until needed…
Its a while since we needed to use it but after noticing the fan running (I got in the van very early morning when everything was quiet and noticed a gentle whir and traced it to the Orion) I noticed it runs faster the higher the output voltage, is the fan run off the output (ie. because the output goes to the vehicle battery the 12v (actually about 11.7 most of the time) is backtracking to the output terminal and running the fan. Seems a little crazy to build it like that but its all I can come up with?
