No Output - Isolated DC/DC converter Orion-TR 24/12 – 30

I have 27V DC on the input and zero volts out. There is no load on the converter. I have the bridge between the remote/H-L pins in place and the converter is wired correctly. Is there anything I need to do to “turn on” the converter? The on/off light is off.

Is there anything I can check to ensure the unit is capable of functioning correctly? Are there any other items I can check to assist in getting 12V DC out?

Hello,

Could you export the config or let us know all the values you’ve set?
Thanks. I’ve installed an isolated 24/24 V DC/DC converter in my car, and it works perfectly. It doesn’t quite manage 400 W, but it does 350 to 375 W.

The remote jumper has to be closed on mine. But you can’t charge a battery with this type; it only converts voltage.
Cheers

Good morning,

Looks you made a short circuit, then the internal fuse is blown, it’s not possible to repair.

Regards, Jeroen.

Doesn’t the Orion Tr have output short circuit protection? Is that short circuit protection achieved by blowing the input fuse or is it achieved through over temperature shutdown internally from which it can recover? I can understand the input fuse blowing if the input was subject to reverse voltage.

I think a DC-DC converter can be designed to survive output short circuit and input reverse voltage without internal damage.

Good evening,

Read chapter 2, not replaceable..

Regards, Jeroen.

Correct. The fuse is not replaceable. But it also says the output is protected against short circuit. What is left unsaid is if or how it is protected against reverse input voltage. Maybe the OP connected the input backwards and that blew the fuse?

Good evening,

We do not know what somebody did, that the fuse blew is obvious.

AND, as said above, it’s not a battery charger.

Regards, Jeroen.
