I didn’t subscribe to this newsletter, so please remove my address from your mailing list(s).

For those so-called “sensitive and easily irritated” people, scrolling an email all the way to the end is apparently the equivalent of visiting Mars. And anyway, calling it SPAM sounds a bit odd. I don’t consider Victron’s occasional information emails to be spam, as they keep you informed about all the significant new developments and products.
It’s rather astonishing that some people consider it “easier” to come over to the forum and start a new thread after receiving the email than to click the “unsubscribe” link in it—especially since it happens fairly often that people receive newsletters they never knowingly subscribed to.

Apologies, our intention is to get the information to people who want to see to it.
I have asked the Vic Pro team to look into how people are added and removed from the news mailings. To make it clearer for both.

It’s rather astonishing that some people consider it unwanted advertising & newsletter getting on their email, rather than being upset.
That’s not only rude, buts its against the law to send newsletters/advertising without consent. But since the “new normal century” started rules does not apply to everyone…
o’rly that does work? until they start their next campagne, then they crawl their database snatch every mail the can get and it’s starts over. so being blacklisted is way more useful.

I’ve also received, out of the blue, first time, a marketing email about VRM news…

Is there a section in all Victron web universe where you can set your marketing / newsletter / campaigns etc. preferences?
Please point me in the right direction, because I am so dumb that I couldn’t find it…
Who knows… maybe someone, that by mistake unsubscribed, wants to subscribe again.
Not to mention that this is a normal / standard procedure / choice when personal data (email address usage) is concerned…
Same, and an email about the conference as well at almost the same time.
Not sure what to think about either of those, but for sure a central opt-in / opt-out overview would be welcomed.

Edit2: unsubscribe links are at the bottom of each email, both seem to be different mailinglists - one being “2026 VRM users” (looking forward to unsubscribe from 2027 VRM users and 2028 subsequently…) and the other “2026-01-06 VicProf - countries AU, CH, DE and language DE”
Unsubscribing doesn’t last long—been there, done that many times since the pandemic of email harassment started years ago.
I couldn’t agree more with you, there are sensitive people and ignorant people. But that does not change the fact that using email addresses for marketing purposes without explicit(opt-in) consent is illegal — in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Spain, and many other countries. It violates both national and EU-wide laws.
If you enjoy receiving marketing emails, feel free to publish your private email addresses; there are plenty of companies that would be happy to share their valuable information with you.
Which is why we moderate addresses being publish here and also why no one’s details are harvested.
I was receiving two sets of newsletters as I had two accounts registered. When your first complaint came in I chose to opt out on one. I have recently only received one set of mails, so, for me at least, it looks like it works.
We go round and round this issue above, without putting the finger on it…
Some people may be considering intrusive or even aggressive the decision to send marketing stuff to an email used initially to create the account.
If you want this, then on the sign-in form, beside username, email and password, put something like a check box that asks you if you want to receive marketing stuff on the same address. Otherwise, see the previous statement.
And in the sign-in process, if you click on the Victron’s privacy policy link, you are downloading a document (Rev02 - Nov. 2025) where it specifically states the purposes of the email entered. None of the purposes there is sending advertising/marketing mails…
So, yes, the cerberus here are adamant about email addresses on the forum, but in the same time don’t take a stance on these marketing emails, which, when sent without consent, are annoying, to put it mildly.
