That worked. (And it was right there in the notes too! )
Hi @jperez the new version v1.00beta5 has broken my device. v1.00beta4 worked no problem but now whenever the gxDisplay tries to start I get gxDisplay has stopped and it keeps happening. I have to reset the tablet from recovery mode.
Hi,
Which tablet model and Android version is the tablet running?
Was it installed via the QR or by the apk?
Hi Everyone,
Version v1.00beta6 has been released. The only change in this version is a fix for crashes on Android versions lower than 9 (Pie).
Hi,
We’ve released v1.00beta6 that should fix the crashes, thank you for reporting the issue.
Hi jperez,
Sorry, it’s taken a while to get back to you. I live in Australia, so
the time difference between The Netherlands and here meant I was asleep.
The Tablet was a Lenovo Tab M8 model TB-8504F running Android 8.1.0. The
app was installed via the QR code. I have seen that you have released
v1.00beta6 and I will check it when I get home from work today. 5 pm
Australian Eastern Time. I’ll let you know what happens.
Regards
/Stephen
Hi @jperez,
I can confirm that v1.00beta6 does indeed fix the gxDisplay stopping all the time on my tablet and the screen is working perfectly. However on my home network I have to enter the Cerbo ip address manually and I had the change the permission of the gxDisplay app to Modify system settings to allowed.

Hello.
I am using a refurbished SONY Xperia C5 Ultra Dual “phablet” for gxControl.
It is running a stock Android 6.0 version customized by SONY, so I could not install the gxControl.apk using the QR code.
→ I had to download it with Chrome and install it manually.
This means I also went to thru the initial Android setup, with language selection, wifi, etc.
Initially, the gxControl app was crashing constantly when starting it up.
Now I fixed the problem, here is how & why :
I am using gxControl v1.0 beta 6
AFAIK, the application crash happens when the gxControl app is trying to scan the already connected WiFi network to detect the Cerbo device.
So, if WiFi is already connected and active, the application cannot start.
My solution :
- disable WiFi / go to plane mode
- open gxControl and manually set the IP address of the Cerbo device
- enable WiFi and connect on the correct SSID + password.
It worked for me !
Additionnaly, as I manually installed the .apk, I also went into the phone settings and manually activated some access rights for the gxControl application + I added gxControl to the list of “phone administrators” apps (this allows it to stay on top and keep the control of the screen & phone).
Hi. Good work but…
Samsung S10+ worked kiosk beta 3 and 5 great.
Loading beta 6 and wouldn’t recognise GX, so entered IP.
This may have had a typo, but screen locked up with message “unable to connect to GX. Reload…”
With a reload button below.
However nil response except for scroll in from right reveals arrow top right. Nil further response.
Can restart phone but returns to this kiosk screen.
Cannot factory reset as cannot turn phone off for magic button sequence at start up.
Therefore I have a brick.
Am waiting for battery to go flat, amd hopefully regain control at startup.
Any suggestions welcome.
Cheers
Hi,
You should be able to open the service menu by press and hold for 5 seconds the bottom left corner as shown in the manual. From there you can change the address of the GX.
Thanks. Tried that several times, but this time worked. Now back at welcome screen. Will try again. Keep up the good work
I installed v1.00beta6 on the problematic Lenovo M7 with Android GO. It used to show only a white/grey screen after a couple of hours idling. This new version allows me to reload and get the UI back again, without rebooting the pad. Thank You!
After a couple of hours of idling I now get the white/grey page with a text like “unable to connect to GX device” or something like that (didn’t take a picture). The reload button works though.
edit: Now I got a grey/white screen with “An unexpected error has occured” and buttons “Reload” and “Restart”. When pressing “Reload” I got the same “unable to connect to GX device” which disappeared and the UI appeared.
My new Nokia T10 with Android 14 works great, no white/grey screens or any issues at all actually.
I am still having an issue where when connecting to my gx device i only get a white screen

Asus P027
Android 7.0
Samsung S5e. Cheapest OLED tablet. Android 10(no longer updates). Installed only through the link - works great.
Dumb question- can I rotate screen to make charger port on the left side?
The beta6 version has an auto rotate option.
Press and hold the bottom left corner of the screen, and a service menu appears where you will find a toggle switch for auto rotate.
Hi, it’s possible to download only the APK?? Thank you!!
Yes, https://bit.ly/gxDisplay and I know this from my heart.
Thanks!!!
