New install MPPT 100/30 Shorting Input Voltage to Zero (0.1V) with no Errors

I’m doing a camper solar and LIFEPO4 install. I have 300ah 12V Epoch battery in conjunction with a multiplus II 2000W compact inverter. I installed inverter first, everything works fine. I then wanted to replace my existing OEM solar panel PWB controller (2x100w panels wired in series) with a more efficient MPPT. I have verified there is voltage on the PV wires when open circuit. As soon as I plug then into the MPPT voltage shows 0.1V. I read there is an internal shorting function in the MPPT but it is associated with an error code. The error code is not displaying in Victron Connect app. I do have the MPPT joined with the multiplus network. The only “error” I show in Victron Connect is that the panels have too low of voltage so its in “Charger Off” state.

Theres no internal short circuit relay for your MPPT, only some bigger ones have it (150/70 upwards i believe).

Make sure the PV polarity is correct, since a reversed polarity will short circuit the PV panels, pulling their voltage down to zero

There was no PV input relay on smaller units until recently; HQ2601, possibly earlier, we don’t really know but I’ve confirmed its existence on 100/30 units as of 2601 so 100/50s may very well have it as well. Definitely first check your PV polarity -as @chrigu says, reverse polarity at the PV input will show ~0v- but then, if your polarity is correct and it’s still showing 0v, check in the Device Info page of the unit where you would check the FW version and change the unit’s name, and if your unit has the feature and the feature has been tripped, there will be a button there to reset the relay.

Thats nice to know, good addition. But theres no mention of this whatsoever on the victron page, the manual still says its only a thing for the 250/100, not even mentioning 150s and 250s smaller than 100A

I know - I’ve reported it to Victron for updating of the manuals, I first encountered its existence a couple weeks ago and reported in this thread, and reported directly to Victron at the same time. I’m told it’s being worked on.

Thanks very much for the replies. I misspoke, it is a 100/30 unit. Polarity is correct, confirmed by multimeter. I will check in the firmware area of app when I get home to see if it says an internal relay is tripped. The MPPT itself doesn’t have an external relay like the bigger units do

The link you posted looks to describe my exact configuration.

Is yours also an HQ2601 (or newer) unit? Just trying to get a sense of when the feature may have been added (assuming that you do find that switch and resetting it does resolve the issue).

I really appreciate your help. My unit is HQ2601 and resetting the relay fixed it. Immediately voltage showed up on the PV input.
